Hi, my name is Lisa McHugh. I am 21 years old and I was originally born in Glasgow although I am currently living in Letterkenny - Co. Donegal. My parents were both born in Ireland, my mother from Falcarragh, Co.Donegal & my father Castlederg, Co.Tyrone.
Over the past couple of years I have been aspiring to break into the country music scene and I can happily say I have been successful so far.
I was a contestant in last year's "Glór Tíre" competition which aired on TG4 between September '09 to December '09. My mentor on the show was Robert Mizzell and I proudly reached the final of the competition. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who voted for me while I was in the competition. I am extremely grateful.
Since "Glór Tíre" I have had many exciting opportunities. These include:
- my own "Country Girl" weekly column in the Donegal News (which is also available as an online blog called Country Girl With Lisa McHugh)
- recording a duet with Robert Mizzell called "I Told You So" (which I am delighted to say has been included on Robert's latest album "Redneck Man")
- being a support act on Crystal Swing's highly succesful nationwide tour (so successful in fact, we have decided to bring the tour back to a venue near you. Please check my tour dates page for further information).
Over the next few months, I hope to finish work on my latest album and I am also hoping to start touring all over Ireland with my own band. An official launch date has not been confirmed as of yet, but details shall be posted here on my website nearer the time. Watch this space!
